Halcrow Business Development Training has continued this month on key business development areas with the management team in the Middle East.
January 2010CIPD Programme with Primark Starts Alistair Redgrave, Managing Director of ALR has been helping the CIPD to develop a training programme on Employee Engagement for Primark Stores. The Pilot Workshop was very well received and the programme is ongoing.Halcrow Business DevelopmentALR are continuing this month with further training on key business development areas. The training was co delivered between ALR and Halcrow's Middle East HR Team. A core team of Managers are now proceeding with the implementation and follow up of learning.November / December 2009CIPD International Certificate in HR
Alistair Redgrave, Managing Director of ALR helped the training arm of the CIPD to develop and pilot their new International Certificate in HR Practice this month in Dubai. The new Certificate is targeted to the specific HR context of the Middle East and as a result was very well received. The CIPD plan to start running the first open programmes in Abu Dhabi by the end of the first quarter of 2010. New FOSROC European Management Programme starts
The next European ILM Management Programme started with delegates from Fosrocs operations in UK, Spain and Denmark. Exova Contracts WorkshopALR successfully held a workshop in Dubai to help Exova's management team develop a strategy for managing contracts effectively in the Middle East region. October 2009Successful completion of Management Development CourseThe European Fosroc Management Development course has been successfully completed by all delegates. The candidates successfully completed the ILM Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management after a year long period which included 20 days training. The final projects were presented to senior managers including Wayne Towell, VP Europe. This years projects identified over £ 500k in annual cost savings for the business, plus £1.6m of potential sales opportunities.Wayne Towell, VP Europe commented:
“Yet again, I am extremely pleased with the results from the course and in particular the quality of this years projects, which were an improvement on an already high standard set the previous year. Following on from the successful graduate assessment day in August, the 2009 graduate intake for TAC started their development programme this month. This intensive practical programme focuses on giving the graduate the key skills they will need to generate new business in the challenging economic climate.Sharjah Museums Training and Development support beginsALR has begun supporting Sharjah Museums with the development and implementation of their training strategy to support the achievement of an internationally recognised group of museums in Sharjah. The strategy will focus on developing internal capability to develop people within the museums to reduce the reliance on external providers.Strategic Development Support for Advantage GlobalALR has begun supoorting Advantage Global with their strategic management and business development strategy to improve the strategic capability of senior managers and the ability of the organisation to develop large contract business. The support includes 360 assessment, individual coaching and targeted workshops to deliver a highly focused level of support.August 2009TAC Graduate Assessment ALR successfully ran the first assessment day for TAC to identify candidates for the Graduate Intake for 2009. The graduates were put through an intensive day of activities designed to simulate the reality of a day in the life of a recruitment consultant. A number of the graduates achieved high scores in these activities. As a result of the centre, a number of suitable candidates were selected based on the feedback from the assessment team. Simon Spencer, Business Group Manager for TAC said: “I thought the day was a great success and from the hiring managers point of view, leaps ahead of last year, very good exercises and a great opportunity to see the grads in action.”
The successful candidates will begin a rigorous graduate development programme starting in September, which ALR will also be supporting. July 2009TAC Programmes This month has seen programmes continue for Business Development and Senior Management Coaching. Fosroc European Sales Development Programme The programme has continued this month with workshops taking place in the UK, Spain and Denmark covering Business Improvement, Sales Performance, Developing Customer Needs and Negotiation Skills. ILM Programmes ILM continues for Fosroc and others, whilst SIKA have successfully completed their Award Certificate – IT Manager Hubert D’sa said: “This certification has given me the ability to grow professionally in terms of business orientation internationally, as well as interacting with other countries methodology of working.”June 2009 Fosroc European Sales Development Programme begins
ALR began the roll out of the European Sales Development Programme with training given to the National Sales Managers for UK, France, Spain and Denmark, following on from the successful implementation of the competency framework. The assessments from the framework provided the basis for the needs analysis for the training, with workshops tailored to the specific requirements of the managers and sales people in each country. Training has already been successfully rolled out in France and this month, the UK, Spain and Denmark followed. Halcrow Work Winning Programmes begin Following on from the Sales Assessment Centres in the Middle East, the Halcrow Work Winning Programmes began for selected senior managers with Business Development responsibility. The programme was designed as a result of needs identified from the Sales Assessment Centres and is specifically tailored to the Middle East cultural context. Overall, I think this has been the best year for training, my team and I have felt the benefit.” April 2009Developing Halcrow Sales Capabilities in the Middle East ALR in partnership with the Regional HR team for the Middle East, successfully ran an assessment centre for Halcrow Property Group senior personnel in the region. The purpose of the centre was to: - Observe and record delegate's performance at a series of exercises against identified and benchmarked key skills and behaviours for senior level Business Developers.
- Produce an individual delegate feedback report and proposed development plan which describes the observer group consensus on the strengths and improvement areas associated with these skills and behaviours.
- Produce a holistic report on the senior team detailing key strengths and development areas in relation to Business Development.
- Use this information to develop and agree individual and team development plans after the event to leverage strengths, close capability gaps and identify any additional skill gaps that need to be addressed through strategic recruitment.

Supporting Halcrow Middle East HR Strategy ALR is providing support to Halcrow Middle East to help with the implementation of the HR strategy for the region. Training has been run for senior managers on improving people performance, focusing on how to deal with the performance issues inherent in a multicultural environment and on managing restructure and redundancy to help the region restructure for growth and rebuild and re-engage teams. Training has also been run for the HR team in the region to help them support the management teams more effectively in these areas. TAC Senior Management Programme continuesPhase 2 of the senior management programme continued at TAC with a focus on performance management and sales improvement. New tools to manage performance have been implemented as a result. TAC Targeted Training sessions startALR has started supporting TAC with a range of high impact interventions designed to support experienced consultants with business development. Results have already been seen with a number of new clients won as a result of the strategies already implemented from the workshops.
February, 2009 Developing Fosroc Sales Capabilities ALR support for the roll out of the Sales Competency framework we helped to develop continued this month. The framework tools were designed to identify and develop Fosroc’s global sales capabilities and are now particularly relevant to the business as a result of the challenging economic climate.
Training for National and Regional Sales Managers in Competency assessment and coaching was provided for the UK, Denmark and Spain. Competency Assessment sessions also began in the Middle East, following on from a successful implementation in India.
January, 2009 A good start to the New YearCourses for the TAC Senior Management team have continued this month along with the Graduate Programme. The next modules for the ILM programmes have been run for a number of clients including Fosroc. Work with NSCC and Sharjah Museums in the Middle East has also been progressing.
